Logline
A powerful documentary that follows three families whose lives were shattered by femicide, revealing the devastating ripple effects of violence and the urgent need to break the cycle that continues to claim the lives of women across Brazil.
Synopsis
She’s Not Coming Back exposes the universal cycle of violence that has repeated itself for generations. Across Brazil, 1,459 women were murdered in 2024. Many inside their own homes, by partners or former partners. Their stories mirror one another in behavior, in silence, and in the tragic familiarity of their endings.
This documentary focuses on the three families left behind indirect victims navigating grief, memory, and the painful task of piecing life back together after unbearable loss. Through their intimate testimonies and resilience, the film reveals the long-lasting emotional, social, and psychological impacts that extend far beyond the victims themselves.
Awarded PROAC 2022, the project began with extensive in-depth research on the victims and their histories. Filming took place in April, and the film is now in post-production.
We are currently seeking investors and partners to complete the documentary and prepare for its 2026 release.
More than recounting tragedies, She’s Not Coming Back sheds light on how violence perpetuates itself and how society can recognize the signs earlier, support survivors, and empower women to break free before it’s too late.
